The winning photos of MyShliach’s annual Mivtzah Chanukah Photo Contest…
Every Tuesday finds hundreds of yaldei hashluchim eagerly checking and re-checking their mail slots, their excitement unbounded for the arrival of an unassuming white box that holds the keys to the big wide world of Jewish reading material. The Yaldei HaShluchim Book Library, a project of Merkos Suite 302’s MyShliach program in partnership with the Levi Yitzchak Library of Cedarhurst, New York, provides the opportunity for yaldei hashluchim to borrow books of their choosing, mailing them to the children’s doors for a once-a-year minimal flat rate membership fee.
“Now more than ever, young shluchim are in need of the reading material they long for to occupy their time at home,” says Library coordinator Mrs. Nechama Bluming. “The demand is high, which motivated us to continue our regular service so the shluchim can continue to get these important books.”
“In the eight years since we’ve begun partnering with the Levi Yitzchak Library, we’ve shipped 12,000+ books to 350 shluchim families, saving shluchim many thousands of dollars,” relates MyShliach’s director Rabbi Mendy Shanowitz.
“We are so proud to be able to expand the Levi Yitzchak Library’s reach and brighten the often lonely afternoons, evenings and Shabbosim of the yaldei hashluchim,” says Mrs Chanie Wolowik, Shlucha to the Five Towns and founder of the Levi Yitzchak Library.
If you have any books that you would like to donate to the library, please know that books can be dropped off or mailed to 788 Eastern Parkway Suite 302, Brooklyn, New York 11213.
