Bring in a new Shliach

The New Shluchim Initiative is now accepting new applications for new shluchim going out specifically for the teen and young professional demographics.

A matching grant will be awarded to qualified shluchim for the first three years of their shlichus to help each shliach build a strong and sustainable fundraising model. The amount of the grant and ratio of the match will be tailored to the scope and cost of living of each individual shlichus location.

Who Should Apply?

A Shliach with...

  • A significant local population of Jewish teens or young professionals.
  • No current shliach serving one of the above demographics.
  • A desire to reach more Jews in your area.

Head Shliach with... or a group of Shluchim

  • A significant regional population of Jewish teens or young professionals.
  • No current shliach serving one of the above demographics.
  • A collective benefit from having a shliach focus exclusively on the youth demographic.

Application Process

  • 1 Complete and submit application.
  • 2 Your application will be reviewed by the va’ad.
  • 3 If approved, you will be asked to submit a detailed proposal for the new shliach in your city. This will include a plan of action, timeline, and funding model to match the grant.
  • 4 Proposals will be reviewed by the va’ad.
  • 5 If approved, the va’ad will work with final locations to vet an approved candidate for the position and finalize the implementation plan.
  • 6 Grant approval! Let the shlichus begin!

Grant Terms and Conditions

  • 1. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis but not necessarily approved on that basis.
  • 2. Bringing down a family member as the new shliach will not increase or decrease the application’s chance of being approved.
  • Grant Conditions
    We recognize that each region, city, and shliach have unique conditions and circumstances. There is no “one-size-fits-all” for shlichus, and we will work individually with each final location to best fit the grant conditions with their circumstances. Below are the baseline criteria for this grant initiative:
  • 1. New shliach will be a full-time shliach serving teens or YJP.
  • 2. New shliach will be serving an area with no existing teen/YJP shliach.
  • 3. A strong financial sustainability model must be supplied by the existing and/or new shliach.
  • 4. New shliach must agree to track their data and send in reports.
  • 5. All shluchim hired through the grant must be approved by the Va’ad and complete a short training program.
  • 6. To best ensure and track the success of this initiative, shluchim hired through the grant must begin their shlichus during the next 12 months.
  • 7. Upon grant approval, current and new shliach will agree to final terms and conditions pertaining to working relationships and the standards of this initiative.
