Compass Magazine Releases 2nd Issue

A few weeks ago, the acclaimed Chabad House Compass Magazine released its second issue to the family of shluchim. The new edition created quite a buzz and was received with much appreciation and interest.

The 52-page magazine for shluchim by shluchim is loaded with content that gives direction as well as practical advice for today’s shliach.

Articles about chinuch, time management, horaos from the Rebbe, halacha and working with fellow shluchim are joined with a comprehensive guide to social networking, the art of involving volunteers, teen programming and the fundraising habits of highly successful shluchim.

After looking through the magazine, a relatively new shliach confided: “I am still taking my first baby-steps on shlichus, so drawing on the experience of existing shluchim keeps me moving forward. My thanks go to all of the shluchim who take the time to share of their wisdom and experience in this magazine.”

Rabbi Beryl Frankel, the magazine’s editor-in-chief and director of Merkos Suite 302, explains that the magazine was released in conjunction with the hachlata that was announced at the Motzei Shabbos session of the recent Kinus Hashluchim.

“At the Kinus, Merkos launched a new initiative called “The Shlichus Institute – Machon L’shlichus”, which offers shluchim professional training in various aspects of their shlichus. The courses combine advice from the Rebbe, real-life experiences of fellow-shluchim and tips from professionals. It’s all part of a multi-channel effort to boost shlichus education and share the cumulative experience of shluchim.”

In addition to the articles, a plethora of advertisements help pay for the beautiful magazine and, more importantly, highlight resources that shluchim use in their shlichus.

“Based on the Rebbe’s charge ‘lehachin es atzmo vehaolam kulo lekabolas penei Moshiach Tzidkeinu’, the Compass Magazine is designed to provide the family of shluchim with guidance and inspiration as they continue to accomplish their holy work,” says Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky.

The magazine was handed out to all shluchim who attended the Kinus and is being shipped to Shluchim upon request by emailing magazine@kinus.com.
