A Hakhel event for kids created by the Moshiach Office…
Young Professionals from around the US are set to converge on Mexico City for an exciting five-day expedition this summer. CYP Encounter: Mexico City aims to provide participants with an enlightening experience that combines exploration of local culture and a deeper understanding of their Jewish selves.
Mexico holds a treasure trove of natural wonders, little-known Jewish history, and a thriving Jewish community. All the above will be enjoyed by a group of Jewish young professionals, converging next month for a five-day journey of exploration and growth led by Rabbi Mendy and Mushka Plotkin, Directors of Young Professional Outreach at Chabad Intown Dallas.
The trip hopes to deliver an enlightening experience: visiting ancient sites, delving into the local culture, and discovering the region’s Jewish history. Participants will meet locals and enjoy the wonders of nature—and the wonders of the Torah: “These trips are tremendous opportunities for personal growth,” says Rabbi Plotkin, “By spending time out of our comfort zone and connecting with our Jewish brothers and sisters from around the world we can develop a deeper appreciation and connection to our Jewish identity.”
Highlights of the trip include spending Shabbat with Mexico City’s unique Jewish community, a tequila tour, and exploring ancient ruins. Rounding out the trip will be an immersive tour of Mexico City, from its historic canals to floating gardens, from bustling markets to world-class museums with special emphasis place on its Jewish sites.
“CYP Encounter: Mexico City,” said Rabbi Hershey Weinstein, Program Director at Chabad Young Professionals International, “aligns well with our mission at Chabad Young Professionals: to nurture spiritual and intellectual growth among young professionals and foster long-lasting relationships, all while strengthening Jewish identity.”
CYP Encounter: Mexico City will be taking place July 12 – 16, 2023
